Tormaresca - 2014 - Castel del Monte Bocca di Lupo - 750 ml.
Sub Region: Castel del Monte
Vintage: 2014 - Size: 750 ml. - Type: RedThe Castel del Monte Aglianico Bocca di Lupo was born in the Tormaresca estate, owned by the Marquises Antinori and located in the municipality of Minervino Murge, in Puglia. It is produced exclusively with Aglianico grapes, harvested slightly overripe to enhance their phenolic potential. After pressing, the grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 25-27 ° C. The maceration lasts 15-18 days, with frequent pumping over and soft delèstage in order to perform a gradual and balanced extraction. Afterwards, the wine is placed in oak barrels, mainly French, for malolactic fermentation, for 15 months. Once bottled, it is aged for another 24 months before being marketed. It is a wine with a dark ruby red color. The nose has a complex and prolonged succession of hints: spicy, mentholated, toasted, with ink notes and hints of jam, dried plums and cherries in alcohol. In the mouth it is soft and balanced, with a very large structure. Overall it is a very elegant wine with a pleasant persistence. Perfect to accompany cold cuts and aged cheeses, it is ideal in combination with savory first courses based on meat sauce and roasts.
Striking iodine and nori aromas with dark berries, as well as a cedary thread of fresh oak. The palate has impressive weight and concentration. There is a terrific wide-set frame with fine tannins at the core. Smooth and supple plums, too. Drink or hold.

From the winery's estate in Castel del Monte, this Aglianico boasts a dense dark-berry aroma on the nose, with shades of anise, crushed peppercorn and violet. There's richness to the firm palate that's built by flavors of thick-skinned dark berries and earthy spice. While approachable now, it should cellar well for years to come. Drink through 2029
