The 2005 Imperial Gran Reserva is firing on all cylinders. Smoked cured meats, balsamic notes of beeswax, antique shop and incense define the complex and elegant nose. The medium-bodied palate reveals an impressively powerful wine which manages to feel light on its feet. I needed to swallow a bit of wine to make sure; yes, it’s truly elegant and classic. This is a great wine, which transports you to the old Grand Reservas of yesteryear. It delivers great quality at a great price Drink 2016-2023.

This focused red shows density and balance on a modest frame, with black cherry, tobacco, sanguine and mineral flavors, harmonious and still fresh. Not showy, but well-knit. Drink now through 2020. 1,000 cases imported.

Hailing from a warm year, this wine is still a brute. Smoky, rubbery aromas of cassis and strawberry vascilate between ripe and candied. This is full-volume, even pushy, on the palate, with blazing acidity and rocky, spicy, peppery berry flavors. Let this rest at least another five years; revisit in 2019–2020.
