Château Le Rey - 2018 - Les Argileuses - 750 ml.
France - Bordeaux - Libournais
Merlot - Cabernet Franc
Red - Vintage: 2018 - Size: 750 ml.
The deep purple/plum-colored 2018 Château Le Rey Les Argileuses has a fleshy, full-bodied profile that packs serious richness in its blackcurrant, plum, and graphite aromas and flavors. Plump, rounded, and fleshy, it's impressive and stays balance on the palate while still offering a terrific texture.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Les Argileuses has fragrant truffles, potpourri and new leather notions over a core of baked cherries, mulberries and blueberry compote. Full, concentrated and packed with savory layers, it has a soft texture and a nice long finish.
James Suckling: 92
Really fresh and tangy with beautiful crushed-berry and spice character and just a hint of stone. Fresh and beautiful. No wood. Some amphora. A blend of 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc. Drink now.
Wine Enthusiast: 90
Bottled unusually in a Burgundy-shaped bottle (and a heavy one at that), this wine comes from the portion of the estate that is on clay soil. That gives the wine weight to add to its rich fruit. Wood aging contributes spice and polish to the wine. Drink from 2022.
