Château de la Maltroye is a Burgundian wine estate in Chassagne-Montrachet, boasting a superb 18th century château sitting on top of cellars dating back to the 1400s. Quality has increased greatly since the early 1990s when Jean-Pierre Cornut took over the estate. The estate has 13 hectares (32 acres) of vineyards in Chassagne-Montrachet. There is a small parcel in the Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru vineyard, but the engine room of the estate is the selection of white and red Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru wines. This includes wines made from plots in the Dent de Chien and La Romanée Premier Cru vineyards, and from the walled Clos de la Maltroye vineyard, a part of the larger Maltroie Premier Cru vineyard. Château de la Maltroye also makes village-level wine and both red and white Bourgogne wines. Over in Santenay there are another 2ha (5 acres) of vines, making red and white Premier Cru La Comme wines and a little red Premier Cru Gravières.
