Slovenian wines, even though they're not the most popular within European wines, they’re considered some of the best in the world for their quality. Slovenian wine regions share one of the best wine growing locations with some areas such as Burgundy in France.
However, in Slovenia the different climates and soil conditions make it possible to create a wider range of wine offerings. Around 50 different types of strains are grown here
It has three winemaking regions, which are:
Primorska
The wine-growing region bordering northern Italy has one of the warmest climates for wine production. Popularly known for its production of white wine, it is also distinguished by the production of Teran red wine.
Posavje
Known for its red wine, it also produces a wine that is mixed from both red and white grapes known as Cviček.
Podravje
The largest wine region in Slovenia, known for its sparkling white wines similar to champagne.
