Daniel Ramos Zerberos - 2017 - El Altar - 750 ml.
"There are four single vineyard wines now, El Altar, Los Chorrancos (El Tiemblo), Llano Toledo and Galayo. Of these, I tasted the new 2014 Zerberos El Altar, which is pure Garnacha from the village of El Barraco in Ávila. The vines are old, with one part being 60 years of age and another 80, all on granite-based soils. The destemmed and crushed grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in two 600-liter demi-muids for 12 months. This follows the more elegant style of previous vintages of Los Chorrancos, with a floral nose and ripe red cherries. The violets make a strong comeback in the palate, coupled with a clear imprint from the granite soils in the shape of texture. This is tasty and long, with balance, ripe without excess, keeping the freshness, perhaps with a volatile touch that lifts it up." - Luis Gutierrez
