The château also produces a second wine from its younger vines named Château Peymartin. A relatively young estate, Château Gloria was founded and assembled by Monsieur Henri Martin who established the reputation of Gloria within the space of a generation.[3] With the first acquisitions of 6 hectares (15 acres) of vines in 1942, and purchase of the chai of Château Saint-Pierre, Martin added to the estate over the years with land bought from the surrounding classed estates, including châteaux Saint-Pierre, Beychevelle, Léoville-Poyferré, Gruaud-Larose, Léoville-Barton, Ducru-Beaucaillou, Lagrange and a Saint-Julien property of Duhart-Milon, making up its present size.[3][4]\n\nThe estate was included in the proposal by INAO to revise the 1855 classification, and subsequently became listed in the private classification of Alexis Lichine. The current proprietor of the estate is Martin's son-in-law, Jean-Louis Triaud. This 1er Cru Classé property had a very high reputation during the 19th century and was rated third behind La Tour Blanche and d`Yquem in the 1855 classification.\n\nLafaurie-Peyraguey is located in the commune of Bommes and its 40 hectares of vineyards are planted with 90% Sémillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle. Lafaurie-Peyraguey was bought by the Cordier family in 1917 and produced rather monolithic and bland wines until the late 1970s when Michel Laporet was appointed as administrator. This is largely due to the energy, drive and ambition of May-Eliane de Lenquesaing, who took over the property in 1978. \n\nPichon-Longueville Lalande is a 75-hectare property that produces on average 36,000 cases per year. Located in the east of the Pauillac appellation, the vineyards (Cabernet Sauvignon 45%, Merlot 35%, Cabernet Franc 12%, Petit Verdot 8%) lie on deep gravel beds underpinned by clay and then sandstone and limestone (part of these vineyards actually reside in the St-Julien appellation). \n\nThe wine is fermented in stainless steel cuvées and then matured in oak barriques (50% new) for 18 months.
